Welcome! Thank you for visiting my website. I am Dr. Jarrel T. Johnson, Assistant Professor of Higher Education in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy at the University of Utah. I possess the ability to teach a wide range of higher education and student affairs curriculum to include, but not limited to: 1) student affairs administration, 2) college student development, 3) college student retention, 4) higher education organizational change and leadership, 5) special topics: minority serving institutions, and 6) comtemporary diversity, equity, and inclusion issues in higher education.
Additionally, I have expertise in racialized understandings of gender and sexuality. Thus, I am equipped to teach courses on Black queer/quare studies, feminisms, and other gender studies topics. Supervised by Dr. Johnson, the Johnson Research Collective for Transformational Education (JRCTE) is focused on conducting transformative and community-engaged research on emerging issues within educational settings. The goal of these research projects is to drive future research and theory as well as assist educational institutions with developing and implementing inclusive and equitable practices and policies.
